Q1. Is it available for Mac OS?
A1. Yamaha understands that Macintosh is a very important platform for use in creating music and would like to develop a Mac version in the future. However, the definite release date has not yet been decided upon.
Q2. Is it available for Windows 98 or ME?
A2. Unfortunately, we are not planning to support Windows 98 and ME.
Q3. Is it possible to use my own voice?
A3. It would be theoretically possible to use your voice by building your own vocal libraries. However, it requires a deep knowledge of phonetics and complex signal processing. Therefore, we are not planning to provide the necessary development tools and software environment for building vocal libraries for the time being.
Q4. Will other languages be available?
A4. We have developed a system that can synthesize English and Japanese songs. For other languages, we do not have a clear plan for the time being. We will take market requirements into account and if necessary we will develop the next language.
Q5. Is it possible to use voice data created with VOCALOID for any purpose including commercial usage?
A5. In the VOCALOID Software License Agreement, you may basically make free use of the voice data including commercial usage. (There is no problem that you release CDs consisting of songs created by VOCALOID). However, you may not publish or distribute synthesized singing that includes lyrics which are against public policy of law or which are harmful or offensive to other people. Please refer to the End User License Agreement of the VOCALOID Library provided by each Library developer.
Q6. Will VOCALOID be supporter on Open Source GNU/Linux softwares?
Q6. Unfortunately, we are not planning to release VOCALOID which supports GNU/Linux.
